Strict consensus of four trees of analysis of 68 morphological characters of 45 Asilidae species in TNT (length = 369 steps; Ci = 0.33; Ri = 0.66). Jackknife values (> 50%) above and Bremer support values (> 1) below branches.

Indications of this analysis:

  • Asilidae is monophyletic
  • Leptogastrinae is a derived taxon within Asilidae adelphotaxon to (Stichopogoninae Trigonomiminae)
  • Trigonomiminae is paraphyletic in respect to Damalis monochaetes
  • with more densely sampled outgroup Asiloidea species the ingroup relationships are well-resolved
